Jewellery Care Guide
Jewelry Care Guide
Do you want your ring to shine forever? Learn how to care for it with this handy guide to ring maintenance.
Take It Off.
Even though we offer the best quality products, it's important to take care of your beloved piece of jewellery. Wipe off dust from time to time, and remove it during strenuous exercise or activities involving water, such as washing dishes or gardening. This will help keep your jewellery in great condition.
Safekeeping.
If you're removing your ring for the above activities, make sure you place it somewhere safe and memorable.
Keep It Free From Lotion, Sunscreen, and Perfume.
Avoid wearing your jewellery when applying lotions, sunscreen, or perfume to prevent buildup on the metal and stones.
Don’t Swim in the Ocean While Wearing Your Ring.
Saltwater can damage your jewellery over time, so be cautious when swimming in the ocean.
Be Careful in the Kitchen.
It's best to remove your jewellery when doing heavy work in the kitchen, as sharp objects or chemicals can damage it.
Don’t Wear Jewellery in Swimming Pools and Spas.
Chlorine can dull the shine and damage your jewellery, so it's best to remove it before entering a pool or spa.
Remove Your Jewellery Before Bathing.
Always take off your jewellery before showering or cleaning. This will prevent water and soap buildup that can cause damage over time.
Keep It Clean.
Many jewellers offer free cleaning, so take advantage of this service. If you prefer to clean it at home, you can use a gentle dish detergent to remove lotion buildup from the bottom of the mounting. Simply scrub with a soft toothbrush and rinse in hot water. For extra shine, soak your ring in a small bowl of ammonia diluted with three parts water. Gently brush with a soft toothbrush, dip again, and rinse thoroughly in warm water. Let the ring dry on a soft towel or gently pat it dry.
Note: If cleaning over an open drain, use a strainer to prevent loss.
Our Stone Maintenance
Jewels need maintenance just like everything else. To ensure your jewellery continues to shine, here are tips for taking care of your stones.
Method #1: Avoid Bumping Into Hard Objects.
Our stones, while second only to diamonds in hardness, can scratch other jewellery. Although tough, they are also brittle and can shatter if impacted violently. Be sure to avoid bumps and wearing your stone with other harder stones.
Method #2: Avoid Exposure to High Temperatures and Sunlight.
High temperatures cause internal structural molecules of the stones to expand, leading to cracks. This thermal expansion can result in fractures, so keep your jewellery away from high heat sources.
Method #3: Avoid Acid and Alkaline Chemicals.
Acidic or alkaline chemicals can be corrosive to the surface of the stones, diminishing their brightness and damaging the internal structure, which may cause the stone to become loose and brittle. Avoid exposure to cosmetics and other chemicals containing acids or alkalis.
Method #4: Regular Cleaning.
Like all gemstones, our stones require regular cleaning. If you wear your jewellery daily, clean it every two weeks. Use a soft brush and water to clean, and for better results, apply a neutral conditioner to the stone.
